Christmas Quiz with a Maths theme!
This fun quiz is suitable for KS2/KS3. Split your class into teams, project each round onto the IWB and mark it before moving onto the next. There are 8 rounds including word problems, area, coordinates and compass directions. Each round has bonus points available. Score sheets are included, you just need paper for working out/answers.
I hope you enjoy playing this Festive Quiz!
Cross-curricular lesson(s) on distance- time graphs with a Hunger games theme. Links together Maths, English, Physics and possibly P.E. (could also link in with archery)
Students begin to Interpret and construct distance-time graphs, looking at the stories that could be represented by parts of the graph and what type of movement the graphs could describe.
This also includes a practical activity where students move around and graph their movements and opportunities for extended writing in which they describe the story that could be shown by a graph in more detail. This would be great for a break out week / end of term activity.
Please let me know if you like this resource, thanks!
A resource for parents and caregivers of toddlers containing a fortnightly template for a toddler meal planner.

Notes on feeding toddlers also included.
This festive estimation game is fun for all ages!
Split your class into 5 teams and display the question and picture on the interactive whiteboard. Play the countdown timer and the teams will have 30 seconds to discuss their best estimate for that question.
Then take each teams' estimate and reveal the answer. Closest team gets three points, second closest two points and third closest gets one point. Other teams get nothing!
Features 25 questions with a festive theme and a record sheet. Perfect for an end of term fun lesson before Christmas- students will surprise themselves at how good (and bad in some cases!) their estimates are, whilst learning interesting and new facts at the same time.
Tried and tested with my own classes for several years, students love it!
A fun Valentine's day themed quiz in power point form with answers included.
The quiz has 10 rounds and the answers are revealed after each round so that you can mark as you go through.
The resource also contains a PDF of the challenges so it can alternatively be used as a team challenge carousel lesson.
Brighten up SATs revision with this great fun alternative to past papers! This Swash-buckling board game involves pupils moving around the board and answering past SATs questions in order to win treasure.
This pack includes the board, the rules and 32 SATs question cards with answers (you could also add your own cards by using SATs papers in the future). The last page also invites pupils to invent their own game for the students to revise with the following year (but of course they must provide answers to the questions they set!)
To play you will need to cut up the question cards (I suggest laminating them for future use) and print the board in colour for each team. I usually let the rest of the team decide if the question has been answered correctly (that way they all have to work it out!) but there is an answer sheet provided for checking if they are not sure.
You will also need counters, dice and mini whiteboards.
A ‘Spook-tacular’ 12 task Halloween themed Maths booklet which can be printed back to back. This would be great as a revision lesson as it covers a range of topics including:
-Word problems
-Equivalent fractions
-Co-ordinates and Direction
-Ratio
-Codes
-Sequences
-Percentages
-Conversions
Symmetry
You could print out the whole booklet or alternatively have one page per table and structure a carousel lesson(s) where teams rotate around the tables and solve the problems. Great for some Halloween fun and all answers included!
Aimed at KS2 (or lower KS3)
A deadly virus is sweeping Mathland and turning people in to Zombies. Which ever team has the Virus Cure when the Infected Zombie Value reaches 100, wins. Plan your strategy carefully and use the spooky character cards with special powers (in the form of maths operations) wisely. Characters include Frankie, The Mummy, The Pump King, Warty Witch, The Count, Dr Egg Head, Scary Spider, Zombie Dude, Devil Ghost, Knight Bones and Boo Boo. The Special Monster Maths Power cards allow you to practice rounding to the nearest 10, square numbers, prime numbers, adding and subtracting and work with place value digits, whilst gaining control of the all important Virus Cure card for your team. For an extra challenge there are 3 extra versions of the board to play - the prime number game board, the square number game board and the negative numbers edition whose board spans from -49 to 50. The class teacher can help all teams keep track of the Infected Zombie value by annotating the provided game board on the interactive whiteboard. There is a Powerpoint version to display which will help all teams decide their tactics and play their next card. Do they steal the Virus Cure now? Or wait until later in the game? But by then will it be too late? Will another team play a better strategy? Simply print out and laminate the game cards if the deck of cards is to be used year after year, but well worth it as children aged 8 - 15 will love using their basic maths skills whilst having fun! Even older students enjoy the strategic and fast paced team game along with the funky branding. Guaranteed satisfaction any time of term if studying rounding, prime, square or negative numbers or for end of term fun. There is also a Christmas Edition and Super Heroes Edition of this game.
